COVID Protocols

COVID-19/Health and Safety Protocols
– WSA is committed to making sure that players (and their parents/guardians) are confident that the WSA has done everything possible to put in place the necessary health and safety procedures.

Protocols have been put in place to ensure the safety of all our participants and our community. Please adhere to the following:

General Protocols

  • if you (player/spectator) are not feeling well or have tested positive for COVID-19, stay home,
  • masks are optional at our fields and can be worn if players/spectators so desire,
  • social distancing (players/spectators) should be maintained as much as possible especially amongst our unvaccinated population.  If distancing is not possible, masking is recommended,
  • CDC international travel quarantine guidelines are to be followed and can be found here,

Player/Coach Protocols

  • if a player/coach tests positive for COVID-19, you must inform your director or program head.  Recommendations from the department of health (DOH) on isolation will be followed,
  • team talks should be done at a distance and huddles should not be used.  If distancing is not possible, it is recommended that players and coaches wear masks.
  • players must complete a Health Questionnaire prior to each session. Depending on the program you are participating in, you can do this via Team Snap (clear here for instructions) or via the online digital form,
  • carpooling is discouraged, however, it is understood that this is not always possible.  If you must carpool, especially with our unvaccinated population, we suggest you do so safely by wearing masks and driving with your windows open,
  • Players/Coaches who have had contact with a COVID case must notify their coach, manager, director or program head and abstain from training or games until they are cleared to play.  Instructions on quarantine, testing and return to play will follow DOH and CDC guidelines.

Spectator Protocols

  • field, team, and spectator configurations are back to pre-Covid configurations (players on one side and spectators on the other) with the exception of Garwood (spectators are not allowed on the field inside the gates and teams are on opposite sides to eliminate congestion) and Wardlaw small-sided (spectators are not allowed on the field and teams are on opposite sides to eliminate congestion in the middle of the field).

While these protocols are intended to be all-encompassing, please understand that community environment conditions may change and as a result of new information from local, state, and federal government authorities (CDC and NJDOH) and youth sports governing bodies (i.e. New Jersey Youth Soccer and/or U.S. Youth Soccer) our protocols may evolve.   Any updates will be sent out to the membership by the WSA Return to Play Committee.

Should you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to Rich Pardo.
