Players born in 2010
This spring the Westfield SA will offer all boys and girls born in 2010 the opportunity to take part in the U7 Spring academy. All players eligible for the program, based on their year of birth, can take part in a fun and challenging program with the aim to help players become more capable on the ball while fostering a love for the game.
The focus of the program will be mainly on the development of each players’ individual ball skills. To become a capable soccer player, it is important to have control of the ball. Through a combination of games and fun exercises players will be challenged, and at times pushed outside their comfort zone, to dribble the ball. Players will be introduced to small sided games as well, but the emphasis will heavily be placed on the technical development of the players. Players/members who are eligible to participant in the program need to be capable on the ball before being introduced to any tactical situations. We also must keep in mind the age of the expected participants, to ensure they are introduced to concepts they are ready for. We therefor focus heavily on their ability to dribble the ball, under pressure of an opponent.
The program will include 2 contact moments a week. On Friday, the players will go through training under the guidance of professional trainers. The Saturday sessions will include more game play, through small sided games, in a 3v3 or 4v4 set up. We will need some assistance of volunteers who would like to help us run the Saturday morning part of the program. Anyone who would be willing to help out/volunteer can email the program director for the program, Ruben Vloedgraven at firstname.lastname@example.org
