2011-2012 WSA Tryout Program

Players and parents should consult the WSA Program Guide prior to registering for tryouts or accepting a roster position in order to fully understand what the Travel Program entails.
U9 eligible players must participate in the Spring u8 program to be considered for a team. please click here to register for the Spring u8 Program.
There are three phases to the u10-u14 Travel Tryouts this year:
1.Open Tryouts
2.Call-Back Tryouts
3.GoalKeeper Tryouts

Registration closes on April 29
1. Open Tryouts
Any field player or goalkeeper interested in participating in the Travel program must register on line for the open tryout. There is a $15 fee to register for the open tryout to cover its direct costs. Tryout registration closes on April 29. Please register early.
If you register and cannot attend the tryout, you must notify the VP of Boys’ Travel or the VP of Girls’ Travel by email in advance of May 7. If you miss the open tryout, then you will need to attend the Call-Back Tryout.
Open Tryouts are scheduled for May 7. There is one open Tryout session per age group. The rain date is May 14. The daily schedule is below, but is subject to change. (As of April 21, Changes in Red)

2. Call-Back Tryouts
The week of May 23 will be used for WSA Call Back Tryouts. This will impact some of the regularly scheduled travel team training sessions this week. Your current coach will keep you posted if and how your current travel team is impacted.
About half of players who attended the Open Tryouts will be notified by email to attend a Call-Back Tryout. Notifications will be posted on the WSA site by May 19. If you are not invited to a Call-Back tryout, you will not be notified. Players should make every effort to attend the Call-Back Tryout if invited to do so. The Travel Team rostering process will benefit from an extra assessment of select players. Many different levels of players will be asked to attend the Call-Back Tryout. It is neither a good or bad thing to be included or excluded from the Travel Call-Back Tryout. If you are not included in the Call-Back Tryout, it simply means that no additional information is needed on you as a player. In these cases, the Open Tryout, current professional trainer evaluations and current parent coach evaluations provide conclusive player data.
The Call-Back Tryout Session schedule is below. Wear the tryout t-shirt given to you at the Open Tryout to the callback session. If you missed the open tryout then you will be issued a t-shirt at the call-back session.

3. GoalKeeper Tryouts
A goalkeeper tryout session will be held on May 16 from 4-6pm at Houlihan Field for 2011-12 players in the u12, u13 and u14 age groups. The rain date will be May 17 at the same time and field. A separate registration on the WSA web site is required to attend this tryout session. A detailed communication about the goalkeeper tryouts will be available in early April.
