1) Match day player carpools - because players are required to arrive 30 minutes before matches please arrange carpools for players, parents should arrive closer to match time. This should allow the carpools to pull into the parking lot dropping players off at the entrance before finding a parking spot either in the lot or on the street if necessary.
If a team of 16 players arranged four carpools of four players this would imply four cars arriving while the previous match was finishing with the other 12 arriving with parents and spectators after the previous match had finished and those families had departed.
2) Please bring only one car per family to the facility. While we understand families with multiple children may be involved in multiple activities on a Sunday parents could also consider carpooling with other parents to the matches. The parking lot is limited; please minimize the number at the facility.
3) On match days as well as weekday training sessions do not sit in your car in the parking lot unless you are in a parking spot. Too often parents are parked in front of the entrance to the facility (the actual field) waiting for their child. If no spots are available in the parking lot please park in the street, get out of your vehicle, walk into the facility to get your child and walk them back to your vehicle.
4) During training please arrange your schedule to bring your child to the facility 10-15 minutes prior to the beginning of your training session. This will minimize traffic entering and exiting the lot simultaneously and your coach/trainer will greatly appreciate the ability to begin the session on time allowing for a more effective training session.
5) Redouble your efforts to pick your child up on time.
All of these requests will help minimize the risks to your children in this parking lot. The Recreation Commission has submitted a capital request to the Town Council to pave and enlarge the parking facility, hopefully despite the difficult fiscal situation this request will be approved and the parking situation will improve. Even if that occurs the requests we are making will still be applicable.
Thanks for your help.
