Smiles turn to determination in the knockout round
We opened the knock out round by defeating Stämningsgårdens (Skellefteå, Sweden) 3-0. Tina and Lauren scored and both goals were assisted by Hannah. Katie rounded out the scoring by driving home a penalty kick and the Blaze was in the round of 32!
In the round of 32 we defeated Lidkopings IF (Lidkopings, Sweden) 5-0. The score does not indicate how truly tight a match this was. Gabby made two great saves and the defense really held it together for us. Claudia stopped two breakaways and Steph broke up another. The defense throughout the tournament has been outright amazing! Rachel scored twice and Katie, Lauren and Hannah each scored to put us into the sweet sixteen.

The reason why we have made it this far is because of the effort of every single girl on the team. Our success is the result of an aggressive defense and a brilliant keeper which has balanced the attacking midfielders and forwards. I wish that you were here seeing how magnificent the girls have been playing. I am so proud of them.
